Plastic Mirrors
Mirrors
Why plastic mirrors?
Compared to diamond-turned mirrors, plastic mirrors offer immense savings potential. The savings can be increased even further by integrating functional elements such as mounting elements directly into the part.
In some cases, the quality requirements for mirrors are so high that plastic mirrors are not an option. However, it is often possible to replace diamond-turned mirrors with plastic mirrors. Our extensive know-how in the production of plastic mirrors enables us to meet even extreme requirements for dimensional accuracy (up to < 1µm) and surface roughness (< 2nm).
Areas of application:
- Sensors
- Medical technology
- Measurement technology
- etc.
We have already successfully implemented several projects in which metal mirrors previously manufactured individually have been replaced by plastic mirrors (e.g. off-axis parabolic mirrors, ellipsoidal mirrors). Our customers have been able to achieve significant savings. The necessary investment in an injection moulding tool is usually recouped within a very short time (often within a year), even for smaller quantities of a few hundred pieces per year. Even for quantities of less than 100 pieces per year, it can be worthwhile to use plastic mirrors.
Plastic mirrors are usually coated with aluminium, silver or gold. We normally supply our customers with fully coated plastic mirrors. However, it is also possible to purchase only the plastic mirror from us and have it coated yourself.
If you are interested in plastic mirrors, for example:
- Plane mirrors
- Parabolic mirrors
- Off-axis parabolic mirrors
- Ellipsoidal mirrors
- Spherical/aspherical mirrors
- Toroidal mirrors
Please feel free to contact us so that we can discuss whether a plastic mirror is possible or appropriate for your application.
